Cavriglia Tuscany Information and Guide

At the foot of the ridge which separates the Valdarno from the mountains of the Chianti area, Cavriglia and its historic centre lie compactly around the Pieve of San Giovanni. The little museum adjoining the church contains paintings, glazed terracotta sculptures and sacred jewellery.
In the first half of the XX century, it was an important area for brown coal mining. There is a recently opened museum which shows how important brown coal was as a means of sustenance for the locals.
