Pratovecchio The architecture of the town is a reflection of its history. A history of faith – evidenced by the presence in the village, of two monasteries of the Camaldolesi and Domenican Nuns – and of power which has
its symbol in the majestic Castello di Rumena, fortress of the Conti Guidi family and cited by Dante in the XXX canto of the “Inferno”. Not far from the village stands the imposing Pieve di San Pietro a Romena, one of the most important works of Romanesque architecture in Casentino. Paolo di Dono, called Paolo Uccello, master of perspective, was born in the town. Every two years in September, Pratovecchio holds a fair, “Forme del legno”, which exhibits wood crafts.
